The best place for boos and booze is our annual Halloween bash at the distillery! Don't miss our costume contest with BIG prizes, a DJ dance party, and a dessert bar with old-school treats like jello shots, dirt pudding, and rice krispy treats. Nocino Bottle Release

Our most popular seasonal release is back ... just in time to bring to the Thanksgiving table!

Join us on release weekend for complimentary samples and specialty cocktails, and to purchase bottles in full-size (750ml) and half-size (375ml). Nocino is a limited release that sells out quickly, and when it's gone, it's gone til next year!

Nocino is a traditional Italian liqueur made with green, unripe walnuts. For our version, we harvested walnuts right here in Indiana — from our co-founder's family trees in Fort Wayne — then combined them with our vodka and spices, and let that steep for months. The result: A luscious, mellow, earthy elixir that has this wonderful, naturally warming quality. It's meant for this time of year!

CREEKBEND BRANDY RELEASE

We are releasing our first-ever brandy, and it is Bloomington through-and-through! Creekbend Brandy is our collaboration with Bloomington’s famed Oliver Winery, crafted entirely with Catawba grapes grown at Oliver Winery’s Creekbend Vineyard. On release weekend at the distillery, enjoy Creekbend Brandy neat and in special cocktails, and purchase bottles, We’re celebrating with FREE distillery tours at noon and 1pm on Saturday, Oct. 20 — tours last 30 minutes and give you a peek at how we made Creekbend Brandy!

Creekbend Brandy, vintage 2015, is a one-of-a-kind collaboration between Cardinal Spirits and Oliver Winery. Crafted entirely from Catawba grapes grown at Oliver Winery’s Creekbend Vineyard and harvested at prime ripeness, then distilled and aged in toasted oak barrels for three years at Cardinal Spirits.

Catawba grapes are the prize pick of the vineyard in our part of the Midwest. And this is how we celebrate them: by distilling a world-class brandy that can be enjoyed neat or in cocktails.

Setting a Place: Local Potters & Chefs

Fountain Square Clay Center brings back its plate to palate event, “Setting a Place: Local Potters & Chefs”. The event brings together local ceramic artists across Indiana and connects them with its leading chefs — including Cardinal Spirits’ chef Dean Wirkerman!

From street food to tapas, the way we eat and share our meals has changed and evolved. Along with this change, the traditional place setting of our grandparents has transformed. With the place setting being an intersection of design, food, and art, this show will explore the form, arrangement, and function of handmade wares.

15 local potters will reinterpret how we share our meals and the pots that serve them, while local chefs, Greg Hardesty (H2O Sushi, Elements, & Recess), Alison Keefer and Ben Hardy (Gallery Pastry Shop), and Dean Wirkerman (Cardinal Spirits of Bloomington) will provide tastings on a hand made plate. Local potters will demonstrate and discuss their process. Chefs will demonstrate food plating on local ceramic wares. A local brewery will be serving the beer. (TBA)

Tickets available for $45. The price of the ticket includes 3 tastings, 1 beer, and a hand crafted plate.

HONEY SCHNAPPS IS BACK!

Honey Schnapps has been sold out for months, but our latest seasonal batch is almost ready to go! Join us at the distillery on release weekend for free samples, special cocktails, and bottle sales.

Honey Schnapps is our celebration of honeybees — it's made entirely from raw Indiana honey, harvested from our co-founder's family's hives in Fort Wayne, and fermented with wild yeast gathered from the bodies of bees living in a hive on our distillery roof. 

There's no other spirit like it! It has a soft, clean taste and a lovely, lingering honey essence. It's smooth and intriguing enough to sip on its own, but you'll love using it in cocktails at home, too.

Honey Schnapps Happy Hour with Matt Bochman

Celebrate our latest release of Honey Schnapps, a spirit that is distilled and sweetened entirely with raw Indiana honey... and, a spirit with its own scientific paper!

We'll have bee-utiful cocktails, samples of the raw honey used to make the spirit, bottles for sale, and a special guest: Matt Bochman, our wild yeast whisper who did something really, well — wild! — to help us make Honey Schnapps a uniquely scientific spirit.

Matt, who is an assistant professor of molecular & cellular biochemistry at Indiana University, and his colleagues gathered yeast off of actual honeybees living on our distillery roof to create the one-of-a-kind yeast strain to ferment Honey Schnapps. They wrote a scientific paper about it all, and their research landed the cover of Fermentation magazine!

Matt will sign copies of Fermentation at happy hour while we all celebrate that a new batch of Honey Schnapps is finally HERE!

Jim Meehan, that is: owner of the famed PDT (Please Don’t Tell) cocktail bars in NYC and Hong Kong, and also a spirits and cocktail educator, author, and James Beard Award winner. Join us at the distillery for a remarkable 4-course dinner with cocktail pairings created and presented by Jim. Your ticket includes a signed copy of Meehan’s Bartender Manual, which earlier this year won a James Beard Award — Jim’s second! The book effortlessly mixes definitive cocktail recipes with a curious peek into some of the most popular bars in the country.  This event is open to the public.

Jim Meehan is one of the greatest minds in cocktailing and we’d like you to meet him! Shake hands! Clink glasses! Join us at the distillery on this special evening for a book signing of Meehan’s Bartender Manual, cocktails and light snacks, and Q&A with Jim, who is, in short, a legend: a bar operator, spirits and cocktail educator, author, and James Beard Award winner.

He owns the famed PDT (Please Don’t Tell) cocktail bar in NYC and recently opened a second location in Hong Kong. His fascinating Meehan’s Bartender Manual, which earlier this year won a James Beard Award — Jim’s second! — effortlessly mixes definitive cocktail recipes with a curious peek into some of the most popular bars in the country.

Join us for a casual chat over lunch and cocktails with industry leader Jim Meehan. This is a rare opportunity for the service industry only to hear from one of the best minds in cocktailing — Jim is a true bartender’s bartender, but also a bar operator, spirits and cocktail educator, and author.

You know Jim as the owner of the venerable PDT bars in NYC and Hong Kong, and as the author of the game-changing Meehan’s Bartender Manual, which won a James Beard Award this year. Come ready with questions about hospitality, bartending, ownership — whatever’s on your mind.

Included in the ticket price is lunch and cocktail, plus a signed copy of Meehan’s Bartender Manual. A huge thanks to RNDC for taking care of the books! Additional cocktails will be available for purchase at the lunch.
