- The North Side featuring Terra Botanical Gin is the summer tableside cocktail at Restaurant Daniel, the NYC restaurant owned by the Michelin-starred Daniel Boulud. Terra is distilled by Cardinal Spirits, the craft distillery in Bloomington, Ind., and was created in collaboration with Lior Lev Sercarz, owner of the legendary La Boîte spice company in NYC and a Daniel alum.
THE COCKTAIL | Crafted by Daniel's head bartender Marcie Andersen, The North Side is made with Terra Botanical Gin, Suze, hosuemade watermelon-cubeb berry shrub, and lemon juice, then garnished with a watermelon ice ball and La Boîte Terra spice blend smoke. The name of the cocktail is inspired by the woodsy character of the spirit, referencing the adage that moss always grows on the north side of a tree.
Prepared tableside, Terra is shaken with suze, a housemade watermelon-cubeb berry shrub, and lemon juice. It is then poured into into a crystal decanter filled with smoke of the La Boîte Terra spice blend. It is an aromatic and multi-sensory experience for the guest, evoking the heightened sense of discovery one finds in the wilderness.
